When you meet the Lord some day, do you want Him to be proud of you? How does your life and your conduct make you different? On top of that, how do you react to the world around you? Jonah hated the Assyrians because they were a wicked people. God hates wickedness and destroyed the earth because of it (Genesis 6:7). When you think of Jesus, Jesus is the "ark" of our time in this day and age, with the "door" of it being closed at the rapture, before a rigorous time of judgment begins. It can be very difficult for a believer to love people in this world because of the increase in wickedness. However ,Jesus incentivizes being kind to the wicked by the means of rewards. This is how the Father revisited wickedness in the world again by way of Jesus Christ. The Father sent Jesus to be "rays of sunlight" in this dark world, showing His Kingdom through it. And that is what God wants us to be, by way of Jesus Christ; "rays of sunlight" in this dark world today.
